Produced by 9 Works Theatrical and directed by Robbie Guevara, a new production of Jonathan Larson's “Rent” opens in Manila in February 2010.
Auditions will be held on October 16-17 to find male and female talents ages 18 years old and above who can sing and dance, and who possess a deep passion for musical theater.
Available roles include the following: Roger Davis--tenor, 20s; Mark Cohen--baritone/tenor, 20s; Mimi Marquez--mezzo soprano, 18–mid 20’s; Maureen Johnson--mezzo soprano with belt, 20s; Angel Schunard--tenor/soprano, 20s; Tom Collins--baritone, 20s to mid 30s; Benjamin Coffin II--baritone, 20s; Joanne Jefferson--alto/mezzo-soprano, 20s to mid-30s; chorus--all voice types, 18 and above.
Registration dates are October 9, 10 and 12, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. at Suite 302, Manila Luxury Condominiums, Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Bring a resume with your latest photo (3R). On-line registration will be open October 12-13, 2009 at www.9workstheatrical.com.
Audition proper is on October 16-17, 2009. Please bring your own music sheets and/or minus-one. Prepare to sing two pop-rock songs that will show your vocal range. Songs from “Rent” or any other Broadway musical will not be allowed. Venue to be announced.

It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book (Jonathan Larson) and Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Wilson Jermaine Heredia), as well as the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical, Best Music, Best Lyrics and Best Book (Jonathan Larson), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Wilson Jermaine Heredia) and Best Arrangements (Steve Skinner), the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical, Drama League Award for Best Musical, Theatre World Awards for Outstanding New Talent (Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega), and Obie Awards for Outstanding Book, Music, and Lyrics (Jonathan Larson), Outstanding Direction (Michael Greif) and Outstanding Ensemble Performance.
